A co-worker of mine had a birthday last week and received some lovely roses - couldn't resist the temptation to take a few shots of these vibrant beauties. After looking at the images for some time, I became fascinated with the interplay of petals in one particular frame, so I cropped it down to an abstract of sorts - focus wasn't quite as sharp as I'd wanted, so I took it a bit in the opposite direction with a layered soft focus effect.

I love the combination of the colors, and that softness works great. One more rose on the right and you would have the Spanish flag. ;)

For some reason, when I looked at this, the title "condiments" came to mind :)
Awesome shot. Very soft indeed.

Wonderful colors. So soft and inviting. I also like how it is not perfectly centered. Adds interest. Very nice!!!

i personally have a horror of rose photos, but your photo changed my mind. wonderful, interesting composition and focus. such a refreshing change from the stereotypic close-up photo of roses!
